I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

One of the leafy socks just needed a couple of extra rows to be perfect, so I ripped the toes and redid them. I continue to LOVE this pattern. I like how these socks feel on my feet and how quickly the leaves are knitted up. The pattern will be out in the fall so you can see what I’m talkin’ about; it’s leafy magic!

As you know, I’m knitting the Leafy socks. I wanted to do extra leg repeats, so I ordered a second hank of Shady Verdant from Hazel Knits. A dye mistress called me to discuss where I’d bought the yarn (Gauge Knits in Austin) so she could try to match the base and let me know when it was going in the mail. The hank that showed up with a nice note from Wendee was almost an exact match for what I had, except that it was a tad prettier.

As it turns out, the first hank had plenty left for a second sock, so now I have another yummy hank of Shady Verdant in the stash. Winning!

It was pretty outside last weekend and The Husband and I were lazing about under a tree soaking it all in Saturday. I’d taken my knitting out but it was lounging forgotten on the pattern amidst the green grass while I reclined on a football blanket…and Sydney was milling around sniffing for truffles or some such thing when I hear, “your yarn!” from The Husband. It seems Sydney had been eating a bit of grass and had mistaken my yarn for yummy blades. Thankfully, the yarn was not broken and appeared none the worse for wear other than being slimed. She had quickly realized that it did not taste like the salad she was after. I laughed and took it in to the house to soak that section in some water and eucalan. I ended up having to manually wipe the dog slobber off the yarn, but it held up perfectly. Toe decreases done Sunday with dry yarn.

Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off
I’ve almost finished reading Stephanie Pearl-McPhee Casts Off (a Yarn Harlot book). This one is fine, but is not my favorite. I recommend Knitting Rules or All Wound Up.
