The gauge is 6sts\/inch<br \/>\nI&#8217;m a very tight knitter, so I thought, I&#8217;ll use size 5&#8217;s and that will be like a normal person using size 4&#8217;s, right?<br \/>\nWRONG.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>turns out all this talking about doing a swatch and measuring is NOT a joke. who knew? <\/li>\n<li>turns out the person that wrote this pattern makes me look loosey goosey!<\/li>\n<li>turns out I&#8217;m going to have to decide if I want to cut my losses and frog the green hat and start again on SERIOUSLY smaller needles OR finish the green hat and start a yellow one for le baby on the aforementioned smaller needles&#8230;.the green one could find a home on the head of a big headed toddler or an average headed child  or small headed teenager (something with a 19-20 inch head, anyway). :)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/br>So, after getting about an inch into a hat that was starting to look quite a bit more like an adult medium than a baby hat, I measure&#8230;.um, that&#8217;s not good!<br \/>\nI did a little gauging of my own and some math.<\/br>size 5 needles   2.5 inches = 12 sts <\/br>size 3 needles   2 inches = 12 sts<\/br>size 2 needles   1.75 inches = 12 sts? &#8211;> yes, I will be doing a gauge tomorrow to confirm before I begin the hat for real. :)<\/br>100 sts = 14.6 inches!<br \/>\n<\/br>At least I&#8217;m no longer the most (up)tight knitter I know AND it is a good thing I started early! :)<br \/>\n<\/br>To whom it may concern: I rather enjoyed Clash of the Titans. :)<br \/>\n<\/br>(4\/4\/2010 10:48 pm)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The hat pattern calls for size 6 needles for a size medium &#8211; adult hat.
