They joined The Husband and I on our journey to California to visit his family and Disneyland.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.metzroth.com\/katie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_9069.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"305\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8955\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.metzroth.com\/katie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_9061.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"305\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-8954\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We worked a visit to the Pacific into the trip so I could dip my toes in the ocean. As I eagerly headed for the waves, my pants already rolled to my knees, I hurriedly approached a four foot sand cliff. Planning to jump down, I stepped near the edge and it collapsed beneath me, cramming damp sand in every crevice on my back side. My entourage was a few steps behind me and found my mishap hilarious. As I&#8217;m the biggest beach lover among us and possibly the most experienced faller, I was glad to be the one to go down.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.metzroth.com\/katie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_8998.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"305\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8956\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.metzroth.com\/katie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_9026.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"228\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-8958\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"alignleft\">&#8230;and I grafted the toes of the second sock Christmas Eve with my parents. Just magical.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.metzroth.com\/katie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_9587.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"305\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8952\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"alignleft\">They hold so many wonderful memories and now I&#8217;m adding more&#8230;.like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metzroth.com\/katie\/?p=8706\" target=\"_blank\">DFW Fiber Fest<\/a>.<br \/>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.metzroth.com\/katie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IMG_2167.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"305\" height=\"248\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-8951\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"alignleft\">Pattern:<br \/>\nInspired by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/projects\/hmgtt\/vanilla-bean-striped-socks-2\" target=\"_blank\">Helen&#8217;s lovely Darkside socks<\/a>, here is my recipe.<br \/>\nk1,p1 ribbing for 1 inch<br \/>\nStockinette until the first colored stripe begins and then switch to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ravelry.com\/patterns\/library\/vanilla-bean-striped-socks\" target=\"_blank\">Vanilla Bean Striped Sock<\/a> Style (VBSSS)<br \/>\nContinue VBSSS through the first row of the black stripe and then back to stockinette<br \/>\nHeel: Eye of Partridge<br \/>\nNote: I swapped needle sizes up and down during the gusset decreases to get at least one round in each color.<br \/>\nYarn: Must Stash Yarns &#8211; Perfect Self Striping Sock<br \/>\nColorway: Dark Side of the Moon EPV<br \/>\nNeedles: 2.25mm bamboo<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These socks hold more fond memories than perhaps any pair I&#8217;ve knit to date.
