I tested the pattern Snippet for Hunter Hammersen. These wrist-warmers are fun and pretty and quirky so they made me think of a friend/coworker and her possible Christmas gift. I used soft yellow baby yarn and was really pleased with how they turned out. This was a quick fun knit; I will be making more at some point. Thinking pink and purple for some special little girls in my circle.

So, after completing two soft fuzzy yellow wristlets, I decided to add a chicken charm buried in the ruffle to remind the friend of our inside joke (Tastes like Chicken!). Turns out either a. I’m really picky about what my chicken charms look like or b. the chicken charm selection in the world is not that great….and yes, I checked the Internet. So, at Lisa’s suggestion, I started the chicken button hunt. I was able to find ones I liked. So, I sewed this chicken right into the ruffle. Somehow, one chicken seemed more fun and quirky while a chicken on each hand seemed way too far. I cannot explain my logic, but there it is.

They were gifted Monday and she seemed to be a fan. She did not however burst into song:
On the second day of Christmas, my coworker gave to me. Two Ruffled Cuffs and a Chicken Buried Right in the Crease!

Comments Off on Purple Sock Yarn Ornament
Category: knitting & crocheting

I found some purple beads and made a purple ball ornament for my tree. It is from the same yarn as my Grammy’s socks so I can enjoy it and always think of her. Also, I used some leftover yarn. Two Birds. One Ornament!

Hunter Hammersen opened preorders for her next book! It will be coming out this spring. It looks gorgeous and I’ve already asked Santa to get his elves working on a preorder for me. My nice mother-in-law has agreed to help Santa out this year renewing my belief that all those horrid mother in law jokes must be complete fiction……just like Aggie jokes. :)

But back to the matter at hand. The book looks great and I cannot wait to flip through it and then start knitting the gorgeous patterns. (I know I’m saying gorgeous a lot, but it is appropriate.) There are 10 sock patterns from which I cannot begin to pick a favorite. I’m showing this pic based on the fact that I’m feeling Christmassy and the socks are green. I’m very deep you know….deep like a puddle. :)

There are also 10 accessories for your knitting pleasure. The Rosa Rubiginosa is calling my name and I already feel some gift knitting coming on with Polypodium Vulgare.

Well done, Hunter!!

Ps. Happy December! :)
