I just got back from 3 days of Disney with SIL, BIL, 2 nieces, MIL, FIL and of course, TH. :)
Occasionally carrying around about 45 lbs. of niece seems to be quite the workout and was pretty fun.disneyland
The nieces were full of funny comments.

Niece A (5) was vastly entertaining. She seemed very afraid of Pirates, but let us talk her into going on Pirates of the Caribbean. When riding PotC, the adults spent time explaining that some things were pretend. Canonballs landing next to our boat were pretend and seemed real because of “disney magic” (which seemed easier than launching into an explanation of special effects). In the end, she liked the drops.
Next, we rode the Haunted Mansion and more “disney magic” was cited.
A little while later, we were strolling down Main St. and a horse & carriage came by. Niece A solemnly looked up at Grandma and asked if the horse was real. :)
Disneyland
We went to Tom Sawyer’s Island which is now the Pirate’s Lair. A lady working on the island had long straight white hair. After 30 minutes engrossed in the island, Niece A was ready to believe anything. She asked TH, “Is that a witch?”. Luckily, the lady did not hear. :)

Niece A’s reaction to Space Mountain was also interesting. At the end she claimed she wanted to ride again, but when faced with the possibility of riding again, she opted out…..maybe it was a little scarier than she let on. The Matterhorn seemed to be her favorite.

Niece B(2) seemed perfectly content to ride along on whatever she was tall enough for and just cover her eyes
when things were too scarey. :) She was a really good sport.
At one point she was running up to meet Mickey and Minnie and Mickey leaned down to give her a kiss and she started screaming bloody murder! We were all in shock until she tearfully explained that he’d tried to bite her. :) We let her know he was just kissing her, but I guess a big open plastic mouse mouth can look pretty scarey when you are the size of their head. :)

Niece B has picked up the habit of calling everyone Mr. Buddy….I found this especially hilarious since it sounds like Mr. Body from Clue. :) She really enjoyed Toy Story Midway Mania, the swinging Ferris Wheel and Monster’s Inc. ride….come to think of it…she sounds a lot like Boo.

Space Mountain is my favorite. TH and I rode it several times. While waiting in line for it over the course of a couple of days, we saw ppl on their knees, what appeared to be clipped toenails, ppl playing slaps, 3 teens playing pat-a-cake, a couple arguing, ppl waiting for 20 mins. and then leaving, a woman halfway cutting in line just to try to get some space from her family, a child with a Pinochio hat with zero concept of how long the feather was, a very well-behaved little boy who got slightly misplaced for a few seconds, some ppl discussing a knife fight, and a very greasy wall.

I had forgotten how scarey the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror could be. I’m not a fan of looking out over the whole park and not knowing when you’re going to drop or how far. TH is a big fan of this ride. MIL and I rode it 3 times in a row with him. I found that I really enjoy the physical sensation of dropping, but don’t like to look down….. :)
Disneyland
We rode PotC late last night after the fireworks and after riding PotC probably 20 times in my life (feels like 100), we got WET on one of the drops! It seems the operator thought it would be funny to front load the boat so all the ppl were in the front and very few in the back…..either that or he was just flat out not paying attention. Either way, it made for a memory since I’d never really heard of anyone getting that wet on Pirates.

After this we rode the teacups. A teacup is not designed to fit 3 full sized adults, but we had fun! and in case you are wondering…..3 full sized adults don’t really fit in a Haunted Mansion Buggy either, despite what the operator might tell you. I’ve got a bruise on my knee to prove it (it is probably more due to my clumsiness, but who knows). :)

I got no knitting and only a tiny bit of crocheting done. I started a blue baby blanket – not sure when I’ll get around to finishing it – just wanted something smaller than the WoW to work on on the plane. I plan to work on the WoW tonight…

……and to all a good night!

I’m not sure if movies can be a hobby, but if they can, then I think the Twilight saga may be a little bit of a hobby for me.
I had a lot of fun at my Twilight party, so last night I threw (co-hostessed? Lisa helped a lot) a New Moon party where some friends and I had some delicious food and then sat around and made fun of New Moon while we watched it (with subtitles on). :)
We were all running a little bit late, so that worked out perfectly.

Thanks, girls, for some more great memories!

Looking fwd to Eclipse! :)

Category: family and friends, fun

Whooo doggies, the first week of April was a doozie!
and I’m not talking about the delicious icing filled sandwich cookies from the cookie company. :)

Fri. – hockey game (they won)
Sat. – breakfast at iHop
Clash of the Titans in 3D – my advice is don’t bother with the 3D, but I enjoyed the movie.
ziplining :) – it turns out I’m not super coordinated (wait, I already knew that), I have a minor war wound which thankfully will not scar. One of our ziplining guys was a little rude, but called me Kate – no on has called me that since my grandpa, so I couldn’t be too irritated with him….that and I didn’t really brake at one point and kind of ran him over. :)….I think it might have been my subconscious zipping. :)
the other ziplining guy was nice, but seemed to enjoy telling us how he hadn’t put on deodorant a little too much. :|
overall, this was quite fun and I recommend it!
we got a new car – goodbye Subaru! :(
I quite liked the Sub….but it was in the shop A LOT (which is not really normal for Subarus?)….so, off it goes.
But, alas, I may be forever addicted to wagons now. :)
comedy club (saw Sebastian Maniscalco – he was funny) – TH and I were 45 mins. late
b/c the car dealership cannot estimate how long it will take to sign papers. You’d
think if you’re already buying the car, they’d try to get you in and out, but evidently not. :(
I like the new car a lot, but the dealership, well…..so far, I much prefer Austin Subaru.

Sun. – Sydney hunted plastic Easter eggs in the house with dog treats in them. :) Thanks, K for the idea!
Then, some friends came over (including Syd’s new friend Cooper)
and we played Scrabble and 42.
D headed out for Phantom and the three remaining partyers went to get sushi. :)

Mon. – I worked a little late and then met Charles at TX Land & Cattle
Tues. – I worked late and then picked up the B-day cake for TH and then went home and worked some more (but this work was a tad less worky).
Wed. – HAPPY B-DAY, TH! :)
I worked a half day and then went to see Hot Tub Time Machine with TH and then we went to pick up the new car (they had given us a loaner Sat) and then went home to get the cake and then drove to the BBQ place to meet friends/coworkers. We had dinner and then cake! :)
HTM was funny, but had a little too much guy humor for me. I could have used a little more Chevy Chase also.
Then we all went bowling (1 late coworker joined us there-no cake for him) :)
Thurs. – I worked while TH took the car to the shop (troubleshoot sat. radio) and to get tinted.
I learned my third cast on – the old Norwegian cast on (German twisted cast on) for the green hat.
got dinner at Joe’s Crabshack
went to an improv. comedy club.
Fri. – hockey game (they lost) :(
Sat. – saw Date Night (I REALLY enjoyed this movie, but I think it is a total chick flick. There is a fun car chase scene that prominently
features the Audi R8. :)), went to shooting range, and then hung out at home and relaxed! :)
I started the Green Baby Hat (for the second time).
Sun. – met TH’s mom for lunch (BBQ) and then drove the bluebonnet loop…then we got dinner (Mexican) and she headed out.

wow, that was a FULL week! – but what fun! :) …time for a nap. :)
