Katherine the Great
I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

The Yarn Harlot always seems to get her baby blankets done by the time the babies arrive with one exception (a set of early twins). I, on the other hand usually have a goal of the baby’s second birthday. So far, I’ve completed them all by this time. The nephew is no exception. He turned 2 in mid-November and his blanket was finished.

When I first learned that his mom was pregnant, I started immediately on a pink/white/chocolate blanket since she LOVES pink. I finished that blanket, but alas, he turned out to be a wonderful bouncing super fun sweet boy! So, in due time, I wrapped my mind around the fact that he really should get his very own blanket. I’d been eyeing this cable blanket by Debbie Bliss for awhile, but I definitely wanted to make it in blue. So, this was a perfect fit! It was a little more work than my average blanket and the nephew is one of my favorite babies. And before, you get all Judgy McJudgerson that I shouldn’t have favorites, look at this face.

Ps. Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!

I crocheted a giraffe as a birthday gift for my nephew and he is one of a kind. It took me two months to sew all the parts together and sew the spots on! The thing that finally motivated me is that Sam actually offerred for me to bring the giraffe to her and she’d put the poor thing together.

It may get a little dicey here on the blog prior to Christmas. I’m pretty deep in my Christmas knitting, so I’m not going to have a ton of new stuff to show you yet, but I think I can skim around the edges and hopefully not bore you too much between now and January.

I’m working on something for one Christmas gift that I’m pretty happy with and I’ve just turned the 50% corner. I tried to zoom the camera in really close and get a sneak peak for you, but it was worthless, so, you’ll just have to take my word for it that it is pretty cool and a lovely pic or two will be up in January.

What I can show you is how when I was trying it on, I managed to break my first skinny wooden needle! This was completely due to user error as I usually try on this item on four needles and somehow took leave of my senses and tried it on while the stitches were on three. This one needle could not bend quite far enough!
