Katherine the Great
I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

Usually, when I blog, I’m hoping to make you smile and if I’m having a really good day, laugh. Today, I’m thinking about how short life is and how lucky I feel just to be able to walk among the flowers.
Last week was a sad one and I coped in the only way I know how. I knit. I made an afghan square in memory of Krystle Campbell. Originally, I was making a red, white, and blue cable square, but then, I thought, she wasn’t a soldier or a combat pilot. She was a girl cheering for a runner, just trying to enjoy the day…and I knit a tulip.

While taking pictures, I saw one lone dandelion, thought of all the wishes she might have had, all the dreams that would never be realized and shed a tear.

Then I went inside, wrapped it up with a bluebonnet and a prayer and sent it to her family. I hope knowing that other people care will ease their sorrow, even if for just a little while.

Knitting and Crochet Blog Week Day 4 hosted by Eskimimi: House of Flying Monkey: Color Review
What colors do I think I use:
Bright vivid colors like jewel tones. I rarely use neutrals or pastels, even for baby things….so, yea, I like the bright colors of Oz.

The colors I actually use:
socks Hitchhiker ShawlCream Baby BlanketAnnetrelac SocksGray Hat Camilla Mitts
Gold socks Blue BlankieYomuts

The colors in the stash:

Conclusion: I like them all!….but, this does have me noting that I’m not a fan of heather or tweed yarn. I wonder what that says about my chosen knitting house (flying monkey)? Do manatees prefer tweeds? Do peacocks like eyelash yarn?
Ps. If you’d like to see what all the other Knitting and Crochet Bloggy-type folks are saying, type “4KCBWDAY4” into your favorite search engine.

Knitting and Crochet Blog Week hosted by Eskimimi – Day 3: Infographic

We were tasked with making our own infographic. Lady Inspiration was nowhere to be found, so I made an image for my rogue house. This took me quite a bit longer than I’m willing to admit.
Flying Monkey
Flying Monkey: Flying Monkeys are distracted by shiny new projects and yarn, but also need to learn new things and enjoy organized stashes.

Since my infographic is somewhat lame, here’s a finished project photo as penance. The stripee socks for my friend with the elf-sized feet.

Too bad I don’t have a carrier flying monkey to deliver them!
