I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

1. I was expecting a good shoot ’em up action flick and I got it.

2. Speaking of it. Helen Mirren has got it. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but she’s got it.

3. My favorite scene involved Byung-hun Lee, a gorgeous blue Lotus and Helen Mirren.

4. The cast was stellar. Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Helen Mirren, Anthony Hopkins, Byung-hun Lee (Storm Shadow from the G.I. Joe movies), Catherine Zeta-Jones. stellar.

5. Anthony Hopkins was wearing what looked like a felted scarf. Other than that, there weren’t really any knits to speak of. There was a lot of fur. I guess it is easier to hide guns under a big fur coat than a knit wrap. That’s not really news.

Do you remember that one class you took. You know, the one where you worked your arse off just to pass. Engineering statistics, anyone? Just me? okay well, the second muppet sock is kind of like that. I KNEW that pleasant striping was possible, I just had to start the cast on at the right place. I cast on no less than 15 times. I’m not kidding. There was a week in there where all I did was cast on for these socks and knit the first 8 rows to see how the striping would play over and over and over again.

ewww. big pool of green.

In the end, I figured it out and I’ve never been so proud of 8 rows of ribbing in all my born days. If you’re going to knit socks with this yarn, for the love of all that is wooly, make a note somewhere of what color you began the cast on with for the first sock.

WINNING!

1. There is a pretty interesting yellow jacket by Spud & Chloe on page 10 (Porch Swing Cardi by Kirsten Kapur), the pattern is in a leaflet….but I’m thinking gray. Oh look, someone on ravelry has already knit a gray one. I do like this. I do. I do!

2. I found the Amy Miller spotlight article on page 42 interesting. I like her style – a mix of fresh and classic.
3. I wasn’t a huge fan of any of the patterns in this issue. I think I could see the cover sweater in blue and white, but I don’t love it enough to put in in my queue.

4. I stand corrected, there’s a gold sweater I really like the front of on page 71 (Midsummer Aran by Ginevra Martin), I don’t know if I see me wearing something THAT holey, but I do like it…what do you think?
