Katherine the Great
I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

I don’t say that very often, but Friday night, I gave myself a talking to and that is what I said.
I was working on my gray socks and had just realized that a heel and two pattern repeats ago, I’d started doing left cable crosses instead of right. fyi: Knitting a different pattern in between sock 1 and 2 for mirrored patterns is a brilliant idea. I had to rip out a week’s worth of knitting and would miss the end of month Knit-a-Long deadline for sure.

But, as I’d just learned that four Houston Firefighters were killed and five more injured, I decided that having to rip out knitting isn’t a real problem. I grew up in Houston and know a handful of HFD guys well. My heart goes out to all those that cared for the fallen firefighters and I pray that their memories will comfort them. I’m so sorry for their loss.

In a weird way, it made me feel a tad better to be ripping out work. As I violently ripped out row after row, it suited my mood.

I had some friends over to watch Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 2. We had a fun group and some yummy foods. Kim came over Friday night to help me set up and cook. She made stuffed mushrooms and these pretty meatballs (I don’t get to say pretty meatballs often enough). One of the recipes we looked at said black sesame seeds were sexier. I think it probably depends on the recipe, but we sure had fun calling all the food sexy while we were grocery shopping.

We made a create your own seven layer dip bar which turned out super cute if I do say so myself.

Bonita was psychic and brought tacos to go with it….and I made the traditional tomato soup.

I’m not going to say that I didn’t embarrass myself when I ordered the “Team Jacob” cake. I can say I didn’t care. The girl taking our order seemed to think we were too old to be having a Twilight party. But, you’re never too old to have fun and this party was a heck of a good time. Thanks, ladies!

There once was a lass called Bonita.
The only cheese she might like is Velveeta.

A more generous person, you never did know.
She’s also funny but won’t steal your show.

Handier in a pinch than most folks hereabouts.
Bonita is wise and does not suffer louts.
She’ll be supportive if zombies you run from.
And if she were a pirate, she’d give you her rum.

She has a sweet soul, is kind-hearted, loves dogs.
I’m pretty sure she’d throw those Highland Games logs.

Katie & Bones

Her great taste in books and film should get a mention.
She takes fun to another dimension.

She keeps secrets right up there with graves.
I could see her running and dancing with braves.

She’ll tell you what you need to hear, rather than want to.
Sometimes, her ideas are fresh as the dew.
House of Torment
Going to a haunted house with her is highly recommended.
But, you’ll have to find your own Bones, cause this one is friended.
Which I just realized means you’re out of luck.
Cause this lovely lady is a one of a kind duck.

Happy Birthday, Friend! I hope Paris treats you to the most beautiful day of your life.
