I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

A good friend of mine and her husband are expecting twin baby girls soon. We had a work babies shower for them today. I wrote a little poem for the invite:
(Friend and Husband) are expecting baby girls.
Around them, a good wish from each of us swirls.

They’ll have sugar and spice
and everything nice….Twice.

We’re planning to gather on the thirtieth of March.
To shower them with gifts and eat some yummy starch.

Come to the (something) conference room to celebrate soon.
The party will begin at two in the afternoon.

We look forward to all making a happy fuss! :-)
They are registered at Amazon.com and Babies R Us.

The theme was two peas in a pod and I should probably disclaim right now that I’ve been known to go a little overboard with themes.

The rocket scientist/green lantern co-hostessed with me and I’m pretty sure a great time was had by all. There were games; there were prizes, and I got to play Vanna White a little bit, so you know I had a good time.

The mom and dad-to-be were joined by the grandma-to-be and her sister.

One friend of ours made this lovely diaper cake and a bunch of these cute booties for party favors.

Another friend was able to provide sage advice for the parents-to-be to share with their girls.

Thanks go out to my co-workers for all being such good sports and helping out and humoring me.

Special thanks to my co-hostess for doing such a lovely job on everything including talking me off ledges. It is possible I freaked out a tad when I realized I hadn’t made proper arrangements for a corsage (turns out I don’t plan around prom like I should). Her first response was to say words like epic fail and that the mom-to-be probably wouldn’t want to be friends with me after that kind of screw up. But then, Co-hostess McSmartypants suggested we buy a flower and had cute pink diaper pins so we could improvise. I loves her!

It turns out, I can be a little high strung about parties. Who knew? (hint: everyone).

Congrats, dad and mom-to-be! Ya’ll are great folks and I know you’ll be great parents!

On a recent morning, I was awakened at 5:30am by my washer delivery people calling to say they were lost near my home while trying to deliver during a 6-10 delivery time window. Who delivers at 6 much less 5 freaking 30 in the am ?!? …in the dark in the country. That’s the kind of thing that gets someone accidently shot.
Not by me, mind you, cause I was asleep, but I have neighbors with shotguns that they have been known to pull out if someone looks suspicious. I’m talking about a moving truck pulling up to my house in the middle of the night and two grown men getting out while one stays in the truck to be the lookout / getaway driver suspicious…and before you ask, yes, they were wearing hoodies – it is actually somewhat chilly at 5:30am! They unloaded the washer and went on their merry way.
Then, I got ready for work.
Then, I got into my Nissan Leaf and was excited that I was going to be fairly on time for work on account of the delivery people showing up before the arse crack of dawn.
Then, I sat in traffic…
…for
…two
…hours.
On the upside, I grew 5 trees and only used 40% of a charge. Man, I love this car! Because if you have to sit in traffic for two hours, you should at least have twice your personal record of trees to show for it! It was nice to think of all the gas money I’d saved!

Ps. Yes, I had plenty of juice left to get home in the evening. :)

Sometimes, what my day needs is a jog. And sometimes, I get home in time to get one in before it gets dark as pitch out here in the country. Today, to motivate myself, I tried to jog all the way to the bluebonnets before the sun was too set to grab a couple of pics. I’d like to make it sound like the bluebonnets are like 10 miles from my house; nope. They are 1 single mile away.

It seems really far when I’m jogging and gasping / breathing in the smell of fresh cow manure. I BARELY made it……and I must confess to doing some walking on the way back.

I wonder if anyone is surprised that my jogging music is Cyndi Lauper (Girls Just Wanna Have Fun & the Goonies are Good Enough), the soundtrack to Wicked (Defying Gravity), and songs by Kenny Loggins (think Danger Zone). While I love me some John Denver, Leaving on a Jet Plane just was not moving me…literally.
