Katherine the Great
I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

I struggled with whether I was going to review this movie on the blog because I didn’t know if I wanted to admit to having seen it. It was that vulgar. So….don’t go see this one with your dear sweet mother. That being said, I thought most of the movie was pretty funny. A couple of times, I thought, “too far. seriously, too far.” but overall, I was amused. The main reasons I decided to confess to having seen this movie are James Franco and his cardigan(s).

I don’t know if the cardigan he wore for most of the movie is a hand knit, but he’s playing himself in the movie and he seems like the kind of guy that would own a couple of nice cardigans.

At some point, he seems to have said during an interview, “I’m a big cardigan sweater guy.” I knew there was something I liked about him.

The new knitty is out! Have you seen it?

At first glance, I scanned past the Sineesfrid vest, but now, I’m thinking of adding it to my queue; it’s charming.

I think I love the Lewis sweater….my only misgivings are with the shirttail hemline. Think I’d prefer it straight across like a tunic.

Jackaroo looks like a nice hard-working cardigan, but I’d use some one-of-a-kind buttons to highlight that it is hand knit.

The construction of the Flying Geese intrigues me, so I’ll be making a pair of those at some point.

Up ’til now, I couldn’t really see myself wearing legwarmers. But, now I’m ready to cast on for a pair of Nozky….I’m thinking gray.

And lastly, the Matsudana socks will probably be the first of these projects to find their way onto my needles. These puppies are beautiful and well, you may have noticed that I knit a lot of socks.

Stripee Socks
Ps. I hate to post a blog with no pic, but as I don’t know that knitty would appreciate me using their images, I’ll leave you with the Stripee socks – take 2. They’re going in the mail tomorrow!

Ok, I’m trying not to be bitter with Lorna’s Laces because I’m reasonably sure it is not the yarn’s fault that every time I knit with it, the socks seem to be cursed. But….the evidence is mounting.

To recap, there were the Mermaids. Then, the Gentlemen’s Fancy Socks.
and now….the Rainbow Connection Muppet Socks are giving me a wee bit of trouble.
Pattern: Vanessa Antiopa by Hunter Hammersen
Yarn: Lorna’s Laces solemate
Colorway: Rainbow
Rainbow Yarn
Take 1 – size Large 2.25mm (got gauge, but I really don’t like the way the yarn is pooling)
Take 1 - rainbow sock
Take 2 – size Medium 2.5mm needles
Take 2 - rainbow sock

This striping pleases me, but I’ve just realized that I’m not doing the twisted decreases, but rather just plain ole knit two togethers. I’m totally going to end up ripping back to the ribbing……..Third time’s the charm. (she types optimistically while humming Rainbow Connection to herself)
