![Earlier this week, @marz1pan agreed to eat lunch at our local Irish pub to celebrate me finally finishing my draft of my Irish paranormal romance.
The proprietor, who sees me regularly, asked if I was knitting for a new addition. I said “No, these socks are for me!?!” and I held it up for him to see.
He smiled and walked away.
After he left, I asked Megan “Did he just ask if I was pregnant?”
She said “Yes. You didn’t misunderstand.”
And then I sat for a second. Someone asked if I was pregnant the week before Mother’s Day and I didn’t feel overrun by grief.
My gaping wound is healing and becoming a scar I can touch without it gutting me.
Two things have contributed to this:
- therapy
- doing the work of writing a heroine who finds joy after life lifes all over her.
While I hunt for and find joy on a regular basis, the act of working through this fictional plot has been healing. I’m so grateful for my writing journey.

I was surprised to only get 60% through the body of the wrap before needing the second hank of yarn. 
At this point, it seemed like a good idea to do the bottom border to find out how much yarn to save for the other border. Before embarking on a border, I needed to drop stitches that were at the edges of Chart B. This was a little scarey and a lot fun. Here’s a picture where I’ve dropped the stitch on the left side and have yet to drop the stitch on the right.
Then, I had to psych myself up for the border. I’m excited to have gotten through that!
AND THEN I learned about the Russian Join. This join allows me to not have to weave in ends. I’m a HUGE fan! :)
