Katherine the Great
I like to think of myself as a storyteller. Mostly I tell stories about knitting.

Saturday, I met Miss Sarah at 290 and I-35 and we headed down to the San Marcos outlets where we met up with A & B. We checked out the Coach Store and then got some ice cream and water (I was parched after the crazy crowd in Coach). It was very warm out and there were scads of people there. We left the shops and headed to our hotel to change for dinner and the concert.

We had dinner at the Gristmill. When we arrived, we asked for first available thinking the choices were smoking or non. We were seated at a table and the fans reminded us of a wind tunnel, so we asked to move one table over to avoid the breeze. The waitress said she’d have to ask someone and it continued like this until we’d asked 3 people and no one would answer us. Finally two people came back and one said yes and one said no, so they let us move. We still did not understand what the big deal was all about, but we were happy to move. Five minutes later, a manager-like fellow comes over and says, “did ya’ll ask someone if you could move?” to which we said “yes” and then he said, “because people have been waiting for a river view so if ya’ll just moved…..” in a hand-slapping manner and walked away. Not one person prior to that mentioned the river view! We stared out into the darkness and decided yes, there might be a river down there. Hmmm. Not crazy impressed with the handling of this situation, but we tried to enjoy our meal anyway.
Truly, we were just glad to get away from the fans.

After dinner, we went to Gruene Hall to the Roger Creager Concert. I rather enjoyed this introduction to Texas Country. There was some great people watching to be had.

B headed home after the show. Back in the hotel, I expected we’d stay up late and chat. Turns out the other two ladies were done and both drifted off to sleep while I was chatting, each thinking the other was talking to me.

Sunday, the remaining three of us got breakfast tacos at Rudy’s and then did a little bit of shopping in Gruene. Then we headed to Sheplers in San Marcos where the guy in boots was really nice and helpful to shop for boots for us to wear at Sarah’s reception. Sarah and I did some more boot shopping and then got Panda Express for lunch. Once in Austin, we grabbed Starbuck’s and then parted ways. Good times!

Ps. I ended up getting my boots at endless.com (love this site!).

Fun times!! I had a blast hanging with you that weekend, and during the wild boot chase of ’11.

Memories….light the corner of my mind ;-)
