![Earlier this week, @marz1pan agreed to eat lunch at our local Irish pub to celebrate me finally finishing my draft of my Irish paranormal romance.
The proprietor, who sees me regularly, asked if I was knitting for a new addition. I said “No, these socks are for me!?!” and I held it up for him to see.
He smiled and walked away.
After he left, I asked Megan “Did he just ask if I was pregnant?”
She said “Yes. You didn’t misunderstand.”
And then I sat for a second. Someone asked if I was pregnant the week before Mother’s Day and I didn’t feel overrun by grief.
My gaping wound is healing and becoming a scar I can touch without it gutting me.
Two things have contributed to this:
- therapy
- doing the work of writing a heroine who finds joy after life lifes all over her.
While I hunt for and find joy on a regular basis, the act of working through this fictional plot has been healing. I’m so grateful for my writing journey.

After the group painted one hank of yarn at Meghan’s birthday party, we weren’t sure quite what to do with it. 
Meghan and I got the idea to knit Christmas ornaments.
The yarn needed to be wound into two half cakes for us to work from. I tend to be a little bit OCD, so I of course, had to weigh the cake as I was halving it to make sure I got it right. A yarn bowl comes in very handy for these types of situations.
One
turns into
two!
I can’t wait to see how it knits up!
